Being a senior is great for so many reasons: you’re top of the school, you get to graduate, and you’re getting ready to become an adult. But for me, being a senior makes me think about what it took to get me here, to get me through all those years of education and to my senior year. And the one thing I couldn’t be more thankful for would be my education here at Lynden Christian Schools.
I’ve been going to this school since I was in preschool, which is where I found a love of learning. Throughout elementary school, I got to discover how God’s world works, and I got to learn about all the wonderful things in His creation. Middle school brought a deeper understanding of the world along with myself and my personality. And finally, high school has challenged my head, heart, and hands to work for God’s will. And even though I’ve really enjoyed the curriculum, that’s not the main reason why I’m thankful. My real gratitude lies with my experience with the teachers.
I think everyone has the potential to love learning and school, but it takes a certain teacher to not only see but encourage that love of learning. Without my teachers’ encouragement and support I wouldn’t have made it this far. So thank you, to all of the teachers and staff members who kindled my love of learning, and kept on encouraging it. So many people at LC are willing to take time, perhaps out of class or during lunch, to answer students’ questions, address their concerns, or help them master a concept. The fact that someone would put aside their own needs to help me succeed makes me really value my education.
Ever since I was in preschool, I’ve been grateful for my unique experience of education, which I have the encouraging and supportive staff to thank for that. Because I think all it takes to be successfully educated is to have someone believe in you, which is what Lynden Christian has given me.
